The Ministry of Defence in consultation with the Military High Command launched a programme dubbed 'Civil-Military Collaboration for Socio-Economic Development'
(CIMICSED) to actively embark on industrial development projects to enhance national socioeconomic development. To that end, a limited liability company known as the Defence Industries
Holding Company (DIHOC) Limited had been formed to undertake industrial development.
DIHOC is therefore a limited liability venture, recognized as a model Public Private Partnership with
Integrity, professionalism and continuous improvement in Ghana. DIHOC was established as a
Limited liability company in 2010, incorporated under the Company Act of 1963 (ACT 179). It is mandated to attract investors for a fruitful partnership in the establishment of factories in garment, footwear, printing and publishing, automobile (vehicle assembling plant), electrical and electronic engineering, pharmaceutical, agro-processing/cattle rearing, mechanical engineering, civil engineering and ship building, ammunition and explosive ordnance devices and housing including hotel management.
To effectively manage human security challenges confronting the country today, it is important that the Ghana Armed Forces become more proactive in some aspects of the national socio-economic environment and remain focused in its desire to contribute towards national development. This will be in accordance with effective and efficient management of the social, socio-economic and human security needs of the country. This is the prime reason the
Ghana Armed Forces is going into business and we are convinced that it is the direction to go as we strive to step up our efforts to support the Government to meet the objectives of the Millennium Development Goals as well as provide a more stable and conducive environment for private businesses to thrive.
